My great grandmother Josephine Fielder was the eldest child of John A. Fielder and Martha (Patsy) Walker FieldeR.

John A. FIELDER was born  in about 1833 somewhere in Tennessee.  In about 1855, he married Martha WALKER.  Martha  was also born in Tennessee around 1838.   John apparently farmed with is father until his death sometime after 1862.   By 1870,  John had disappeared from records and Martha and the two children were living with  Joseph and Martha Fielder.  She apparently worked as a seamstress.  After the marriage of her daughter Josephine in 1876,  Martha moved in with her daughter and son-in-law where she lived until her death of typhoid fever in about 1895.

bulletJosephine Amanda Elgiva (my great-grandmother, born  20 Dec 1856,   married 21 Sept 1876 to  Joseph A. ANDERSON,    died  23 July 1927;
bulletJohn Thomas, born  about 1862.

Little is known of John Thomas.   Family legend passed down by his sister Josephine to her grand-daughter Clara ANDERSON says that "he went to Missouri and was never heard from again."   Records do show that on 3 Oct 1870, a John Thomas FIELDER was apprenticed to Orin A. JONES until his 21st birthday.  That would have been about 1883.  On 5 Dec 1883,  John Thomas sold his 1/4 interest in the family lands to his sister and brother-in-law,  Josephine and Josie ANDERSON.   Then he disappears from Hickman County.
